Born in Lisbon, Portugal, and with a background in multimedia engineering, Gonçalo Fernandes began his career in the travel industry at Travelport. In a variety of roles, he has been instrumental in providing Travel Management Companies (TMCs) and their clients with key technology solutions to improve their bottom line. Working closely with third party technology partners, his aim was to provide TMCs with essential tools for growth and operational efficiency. Gonçalo then expanded his expertise at GlobalStar Travel Management as Director of IT and Supplier Relations, providing critical support to the global travel network while working with IT teams around the world to identify and develop travel platforms for the future.
In recent years, Gonçalo has been instrumental in the growth and strategic direction of a number of start-ups, particularly in the travel technology sector. These subsequent roles have been instrumental in developing and leading product strategies and operational frameworks, demonstrating his ability to navigate the intricacies of product development and market innovation.
